how do I move navigation bar like this site?

Hi, I found PrimePress awhile back, but today is my first visit to the forum. I was searching for information related to styling and placing the menu bar and found this somewhat "old" thread.
I'm bumping this in hopes that someone can reply or direct me to a useful reply.
I have a couple of sites using PrimePress, and love it. But those sites have rather long page names which simply bunch up, shift around, or override the blog slogan located under the blog name.
Is there a way to either 1) move the menu further down like it is in the web site referenced above, or, 2) move the blog name and slogan higher in the header so that the menu can take up the whole width of the content area.

I'd like to move the menu under the header image, too. Has anyone figured this out?
