size default image thumbnails

Is there a way to change the options for the default size choices of images in posts?

Right now the options are:
Thumbnail (150 × 150)
Medium (300 × 200)
Large (1024 × 682)
Full Size (2592 × 1728)

Obviously, I'm never going to be able to use Large or Full Size in a post. Ideally, full size would default to whatever the current Content Width is (as chosen in PrimePress themes) and Large would be a little less than that. Medium is really too small (my Content Width is 580), so I'm having to upload as large and then manually resize by dragging or changing the numbers. Annoying.

I quickly poked around in the code, but I didn't see where these numbers are to change the defaults. Any ideas?

(And it'd be great if there was a way to auto-update image sizes if I do change the width. Especially if the width is smaller.)

Update: So now I realize the size I posted above aren't constant. The full size is whatever the full size of the image is. Again, this makes no sense, since the "full size" within the post should always be limited to the full width of the section you've chosen.

Right now, I'm just batch resizing to the full width of the column, but that's not ideal as I would like to be able to have a larger image linked to that without having to upload it separately.
