Camera Overview
Replacing the EOS 760D, Canon’s EOS 77D is an entry into their enthusiast level DSLRs. It fits between the T7i / 800D and the 80D.
Canon EOS 77D Review
The Canon EOS 77D is a well-rounded and well-sorted camera. The ergonomics are great, Live View performance is superb and Dual Pixel Autofocus continues to impress. The viewfinder is a little on the small side and it still doesn’t shoot 4K video, but as an all-around package for the enthusiast photographer, the EOS 77D deserves a look.
Canon EOS 77D review
Make no mistake, the EOS 77D is a great camera. The picture quality is fi rst rate and it has all the features and controls needed to satisfy photo enthusiasts. We particularly love its performance in Live View mode, where it feels as fast and responsive as the latest generation of mirrorless cameras. However, it does feel like a range-filler rather than a genuinely new camera, using tech already available in the EOS 80D. It’s not cheap, either.
Canon 77D Review
The 77D combines the ease-of-use of an entry-level DSLR with more advanced controls typically seen on higher-end DSLRs. It’s a versatile camera for those looking to go beyond a basic DSLR yet don’t want to break the bank.
Canon EOS 77D review
The EOS 77D is a very capable DSLR, but it’s a hard camera to get excited about. It does a lot of things well, but there’s nothing that makes it stand out from the crowd. If you want an entry-level DSLR, the Canon EOS Rebel T7i / 800D is the one to go for, while those looking for something a bit more advanced should save their pennies for a bit longer and get the EOS 80D.
Canon EOS 77D review
This camera finds itself in an awkward middle ground, reaching for that user who’s outgrown a Rebel but can’t quite afford the higher-end features of the 80D (and who doesn’t want a mirrorless camera).
Canon EOS 77D
The Canon EOS 77D is a midrange SLR camera that incorporates features from the entry-level Rebel series and the premium 80D.
Canon EOS 77D Review
It ticks the right boxes and is a great option in Canon’s enthusiasts’ DSLR line-up.
Canon EOS 77D Review
In summary, the Canon EOS 77D is a decent enough camera that may suffer in terms of sales and appeal from being too similar to both the cheaper, simpler EOS 800D and the more prosumer EOS 80D, depending on your experience level…
Canon 77D review
Canon is billing the 77D as the smaller, more compact alternative to the 80D and it is an attractive option, delivering much of the specification of the larger camera at a slightly lower price. However, with compact system cameras having increasingly better autofocus systems and electronic viewfinders that show the scene with camera settings applied, the 77D is up against some tough competition.
Review: Canon 77D
The Canon 77D is a great camera for a lot of people out there. But at the price point, there are also a whole lot of other great cameras. Where the 77D shines is the light weight, simple user interface, and autofocus in many ways. Personally though, I’d prefer to reach for the Fujifilm X-T20 at this price point yet the Canon 77D still surely does have a lot going for it.
Canon EOS 77D Review
If you’re an enthusiastic photographer and can see yourself wanting direct control over the shutter and aperture speeds in manual mode, then the 77D is going to be the camera you will want, over the 800D. To get the best out of the camera, prime lenses are recommended.
Canon EOS 77D review
If you’ve long been pining for a quality all-round DSLR camera than Canon makes a strong case in the 77D. Sure, it’s roughly an 80D without the weather-sealing and a few additional features thrown in, but given how masterful that camera was in 2016’s market, it’s hard to shout the 77D down.
